About BSL LAB LEVEL I, II, III

BSL 2 indicates laboratories for containment for agents of moderate potential hazards to personnel and the environment where laboratory personnel have specific training in handling pathogenic agents and are supervised by scientists competent in handling infectious agents and associated procedures. The access to the laboratory is restricted when work is being conducted; and all procedures in which infectious aerosols or splashes may be created are conducted in BSL LAB LEVEL I, II, III or other physical containment equipment. Immunization or antibiotic treatment may be available for organisms handled in these labs.
